past Watercolor, Cardmaking and Custom Jewelry Workshop

Special collaboration with SENIA Co-founder Christina Senia & NYC artist Candice Griswold

I’m still buzzing from our most recent workshop! It was a collaboration with the beautiful and talented Christina Senia, cofounder of Senia, a woman-owned boutique jeweller that uses only sustainable and conflict-free materials. Its jewellery is modular and can be built upon itself to create different pieces, depending on your mood. This creativity and sustainability focus does not begin and end with the jewellery. Senia’s packaging is also functional, doubling as a travel case.

This week we completed a two-part workshop with a group of 9.  The goal was to create a start-to-finish customized Senia charm for a very special person in our lives, including its hand made packaging that would be used to deliver it, and double as a keepsake.

We got the creative juices flowing with watercolor gift tags. After that we created cards using hand cut quality card stock that would ultimately be the packaging for the jewelry.  

Then, we focused on the metals!  We first wrapped the card with a Senia chain.  We then hand-sculpted charms from a proprietary wax technique and customized the design based on a special person or memory in mind. Once finished, the charm will attach to the chain on the card.

I learned so much by combining these different mediums, and I am so grateful to Christina for inspiring this collaboration!
